Great Helm – Sir Nicholas Hawberk Style
A versatile and battle-ready great helm inspired by the historical helmet of Sir Nicholas Hawberk, adapted for both reenactment and modern medieval combat.
Design & Visibility Options
Originally without ventilation, this helmet can be configured with vents to improve visibility and airflow — ideal for fighters who prioritize awareness and comfort during combat.
Protection & Construction
Standard construction uses 2 mm hardened high-carbon steel, with an option to reinforce the upper section (from the ears up) using 3 mm steel for increased protection. Despite its durability, the helmet remains relatively lightweight and comfortable.
Versatile Setup
Can be worn with or without a chainmail collar. Without it, you gain reduced weight and increased mobility (a separate neck protection such as a gorget is recommended). With a collar, you benefit from enhanced coverage and safety.
Combat-Ready Features
Equipped with dual-layer padding (liner + foam) for comfort and protection. The helmet can also include a full strap system: back strap (to brigantine/cuirass), chin strap, and jaw strap to stabilize the head position.
Made to Measure
Each helmet is crafted to your measurements. After placing your order, we will contact you with detailed measuring instructions to ensure a perfect fit.

Review Great Helm "Hawberk" and help others decide.
The actual product was much more satisfying than I expected. The design was exactly what I wanted, and the size was just right. Also, it was heavier than I thought, but the weight was distributed across the shoulders, so it wasn't that heavy when I wore it. The visibility is better than I thought. Lastly, I think there will be fun in managing the helmet.
